Most May brides are counting on warm, mild weather and sunny skies. I’m sure Leanne was one of those brides. What she got was one of the coldest days that I can remember in May, with winds gusting at 40+ mph. Did she let it bother her? NOT. ONE. BIT. She and Jason went right on with their big day like it was nothing. I’ve wanted to do a wedding at Grand Highlands since I knew it existed, and I think I literally did a happy dance when Leanne told me that was the venue she’d chosen. The mountaintop views are like none other in Henderson County!
A very small part of me was super happy about the wind because it keep sweeping her veil into the most beautiful shapes for photos…but most of me was just cold. But the cold was definitely worth it. This is one of my most favorite weddings to date, complete with a dramatic sunset and epic veil shots.
I had a really had a hard time picking photos for this post. There were just SO many that I loved from this wedding. Some of my favorites are at the end of the post. Leanne and I had talked many times about how they would leave their reception, and we decided that sparklers would be the best way to go. When it came time to line the guests up for their exit…she realized that she had forgotten the sparklers at home in Florida! Since a quick trip home to get them was out of the question…we improvised. Centerpieces full of baby’s breath from the reception tables were just what we needed. And voila! One of my favorite exits came into existence.
The amazing team of vendors that made it all possible are tagged at the bottom of this post, so make sure to check them out.
