Becky and Joe tied the knot in BEAUTIFUL Asheville, NC. I grew up super close to Asheville, and it always amazes me that this little city attracts so many destination weddings. Joe and Becky call Charlotte, NC home, but fell in love with Asheville a long time ago, and decided that there was no where else they’d rather get married.

Joe and Becky attended the same college, but didn’t meet until her 3rd year of dental school. Becky’s man of honor, Rigo, introduced them!

Joe’s proposal was one of my favorites…mostly because I got to be there! He emailed me when he and Becky had JUST moved to NC from Chicago, and asked if I would be willing to hike up the side of the mountain, hide in the trees, and take photos of the proposal when he asked Becky to marry him. OF COURSE, I said yes! We met before and he showed me the spot, and we set plans for the day of. That morning, as she came bouncing up the trail, she literally walked 3 feet in front of me. I’m SO glad she didn’t turn around and catch me hiding under the bushes with my camera. As they took in the scenery, Joe took a knee. It didn’t take Becky long to give him a resounding YES!

Their first date was super low key, just like them. Pizza and wine in her apartment fit them perfectly. During Becky’s vows to Joe, she referenced his love of feeding her as one of the reasons that she loves him so much!

April is one of those wedding months where you’re not always sure what you’re going to end up with, weather-wise. Even a couple days out from the wedding, the forecast predicted rain. But on the day of, nothing but sunshine, and the perfect amount of breeze.

I wish I had the words to describe how in love Joe and Becky are. The adorable nose scrunching when she smiles at him, the ear to ear grin when she is in his line of sight…it’s pretty sweet. Their excitement was absolutely contagious all day on wedding day. A giant hug from her and a high five from him definitely started my day off right. The couple and their respective attendants got ready at the GORGEOUS S&W lofts in downtown Asheville. They met early afternoon at the UNCA Botanical Gardens for their first look (check out Joe’s HUGE smile when he sees her!) and for bridal party portraits…then everyone was transported by trolley to the Crest Center & Pavilion for the ceremony and reception. Joe’s brother, Sam, was the officiant and threw in lots of stories about Joe and Becky, and both mothers also said a few words to the couple. Joe and Becky wrote their own vows to each other, and I’m not quite sure how they made it through them, because I was definitely tearing up! Then…party time! Their theme was “home is wherever I’m with you” and their tables were named after some of the places that they’ve been together. The reception brought some super sweet speeches from honor attendants, adorable parent dances, and one heck of a dance party led by a fantastic band! You know it’s a party when both bride and groom end up crowd surfing! It always happens that something gets forgotten on wedding day…and this time, it was the sparklers. Oh well, when you’re as cute as Becky and Joe, you ask your guests to use makeshift sparklers with their phones, and you do your own kind of grand exit!

Becky and Joe – THANK YOU for trusting me to capture your big day. Your energy, your passion for life, and your excitement about everything lights up any room you walk into. Keep putting each other first, keep smiling at each other, and keep making each other laugh. Remember the way you felt on your wedding day. You two are truly two of my favorite people on the face of the planet. I wish you ALL of the very best!
